One of the oldest departments of the College, the Bengali Department with its rich tradition of providing excellent teaching-learning facility to every student is the only department of the College offering Post Graduate Courses under the University of Burdwan.

We sincerely motivate our leaners for higher studies and research from their undergraduate days. The Department library consists of a rich collection of books and rare materials.

The department, being one of the MA learning Centres, under the University of Burdwan, prides itself in consistent academic performance in both UG and PG levels.

A galaxy of whose who of Bengali literature including the great linguist Sukumar Sen was an alumnus of our Department. Many of our former students have adorned high academic positions.
