The Department of Electronics of Burdwan Raj College was established in 1987. Initially, only undergraduate General Programme was offered. From the session 2013-2014 Electronics (Honours) course was introduced.

We aim to make students aware of basic science and modern technology through theoretical and practical teaching based on the syllabus provided by the university. A critical understanding of the subject helps them to cope with the present technological era. The education provided by the department is directly applicable for solving problems and situations encountered in real life and thus fosters a successful carrier.

Our mission is to:

• Empower students to cope with the challenge of globalization by instilling in them a passion for deep learning of the subject.
• Prepare the learners to compete and corporate in national level and global levels of higher studies and make them eligible for different job opportunities.
• Strengthen and support every student to sustain a healthy society by improving the quality of life through the application of technology.

Our priority is to provide learners with in-depth theoretical knowledge and experimental (both Hardware and software) exposure of different branch of the subject. For this purpose, attention is given to enhance departmental library and laboratory facilities.

• Library: About 480 books are available in the departmental seminar library.
• Classroom: A separate departmental classroom for theoretical classes.
• Computer and Internet facilities: Desktops with internet facilities are available for students and staffs. PPT presentation of different topic and demonstration of Software experiments using LT Spice, Scilab, C language etc can be done in the practical class using them.
• Audio and video lectures facility is available for both members of the faculty and students.
• Laboratories: The departmental laboratory is enriched with different instruments required for hardware experiments in the practical classes. There are two separate cubicles within the laboratory for digital experiments and optical experiments and a workshop for designing and repairing different circuit boards etc.

• Our students are informed and encouraged to undertake different opportunities of learning this course.
• Each year final semester students are made aware of the availability of different post graduate courses all over India where they can take their admission after completion of Electronic Science (Honours) course.
• Information regarding job opportunities in different sectors is given to Honours and general students.
• For convenience of the students all information regarding post graduate courses and job opportunities are posted in written format in the departmental Notice board.
• The department has about 90 advanced level books and some instruments purchased from two Minor research project granted by the University Grant Commission (UGC) These books are issued to advance level students and permission is given for use of those instruments for experiment who are interested to enhance their knowledge.

The subject Electronics is growing at an extremely fast pace with prospects and challenges for jobs multiple fields engaging. Our pass out students of the Electronics Hons generally take admission to different PG courses like Electronic Science, Electronic Instrumentation, Biomedical Instrumentation, Computer Science, MCA, MBA etc or prepare for different National level competitive examination or get job in different private sectors.
